I have kindly been supplied this
webcam to review by the wonderful people over
at BigPockets.co.uk.
Usually I expect webcams to be of poor quality
(probably due to the hunk of junk I have been
using), but when I saw what this one can produce
my view was changed. Lets take a look...
What you
get... When you open up the box
you are greeted by...
-The Webcam itself
-A Microphone and clip
-A Manual
-2 CD-Roms

The Manual and one CD-Rom

The Microphone, just your standard mic - with
attached clip

The Webcam - Ain't she a beaut?!
The Beast...
Now to cover the actual
camera in more detail.

This is what you'll see during your video conference
sessions and what-not when the camera is pointing
directly at you. The ring you can see around
the lens is twisted to adjust the focus of the
camera.

Here you can see the camera, angled
on its base - it is totally free to move because
its a ball and socket joint.

Another, showing how far the camera
can tilt back - good for if you have it on your
desk looking up at you.

Hehe, this demonstrates how the
camera is free to rotate through 360 degrees
in the base.

The base itself has a rubbery
finish to the bottom, this is really useful
compared to other webcams i've used where they
just slide around all over the place, even the
cable can move them if not positioned right.
But this one is brilliant - stays firmly in
its place, doesnt allow the cable to push it
around.
The Software
Along with the drivers you get a nice little
selection of software with the camera...
-Liquid Pics II
-Video Suite
-Code 37
I wont go into detail about the
software, just a quick blurb for each one. I
can assure you there is enough there to get
you started, and then you've got your standard
Netmeeting, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ etc. that
it can be used with.
Liquid Pics II is a full-featured,
easy-to-use photo-fun application for computer
users of all ages and abilities. It provides
a wide variety of imaging features such as photo
enhancement, distortion and warping effects,
creation of photo compositions, magazine covers,
greeting cards, postcards and more.
In addition, multimedia slide shows can be generated,
photos can be printed in a variety of formats,
saved as HTML documents for use on the web or
sent to family and friends via e-mail.
Video Suite: With Software
Dynamics' Video Suite you can be recording,
editing and processing videos, developing your
own 3D logos and creating special effects morphs
in minutes. The Media Manager is particularly
handy, as it facilitates locating the media
files you need. In addition, you cna turn your
favourite videos into screensavers.
Code37: With code37 you
finally get to be the hero in the games worlds
of Counter Strike, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament
or The Sims. It only takes a few minutes for
code37 to generate a 3d model of a human head
from just two digital photos. Guaranteed they'll
think its you.
Along with those titles you get
an extra CD which includes both MGI VideoWave
and PhotoSuite.
What can
she do?
Here are some examples of photos I've taken
with this camera. Click the first two for a
larger image.

As you can see, the text came
out very good.

Not as clear, but still excellent
for a webcam of this price, and probably made
worse by the user aswell. ;)

Conclusion
I highly recommend this
webcam to everyone who wants a webcam under
about £60 to buy this one. It is absolutely
excellent for the money, well, excellent in
general really - it outperforms a lot of other
webcams I have seen, and for the price of one
of those you could buy two of these and give
one to a mate!
HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED
