Today I'll be reviewing the latest power supply on the market. It's been produced by a little known company called the FSP group. The power supply is called the Aurora 350 and unsurprisingly it is a 350W unit. The Aurora 350 has got quite a fight on it's hands if it wants to take on the likes of Enermax, who are renound for both quality and realibility. This power supply is unlike any we've seen before, its shiny nickel-plated and includes 120mm blue LED fan which is speed controllable.
Cost: £54 inc VAT (350W version) Cost: £49.99 inc VAT (300W version) Manufacturer: FSP Group Availability: Dabs \ Maplin \ Mitek
FSP group offer the Aurora in two flavours, the Aurora 300 (the 300W version) costing £49.99 and the Aurora 350 (the 350W version) costing slightly more at £54. This review looks at the 350W version which should provide more than enough power for running fans, powerful CPUs and overclocking. As mentioned above both the 300 and the 350 are available through Maplin, Dabs, Mitek. They should also be arriving in PC World and Dixons very soon.
Lets take a quick look at the specification:
Key Features:
- Low ripple & noise
- Passive PFC Output rail
- Over Voltage Protection Line
- Input fuse protection
- Near silent illuminated 120mm fan (20dB at normal loads)
- Variable airflow control
- Nickel-plated
Specification:
- Temperature range: operating 0°C ~ 50°C
- Surge immunity: Common mode 2000VAC & Differential mode 1000VAC
- Efficiency: 65% min, 70% typical at full load
- Over voltage protection: +5v\+3.3v\+12v
